What to Keep in a Emergency Travel Kit

Updated: Apr 15, 2018

Let’s face it, emergencies happen.

Whether you’ve decided to backpack across the world or go away on a weekend adventure- every traveler should carry an emergency kit.

Below you’ll find all the items I carry in my emergency kit.

ESSENTIAL MEDICAL ITEMS

1. Container – Either a hard-shell box or a packing cube to keep all items organized (I use a packing cube to save space and is much lighter than a hard shell container)

2. Band Aids

3. Antiseptic Wipes

4. Antibiotic Ointment (Polysporn)

5. Gauze pads

6. Medical Tape

7.Tweezers

8. Scissors (a small pair of medical scissors will do)

9. Painkillers or Advil

10. Hand Sanitizer

NON-ESSENTIAL BUT NECESSARY ITEMS

1. Anti- Diarrhea tablets or laxatives- Most people forget to pack these and it can cause a tonne of discomfort during your trip.

2. Cold Relief Medication- If you’re headed away for a long period of time, chances are you may come down with a cold. This item may be hard to come across in smaller villages where you don't speak the language.

4. Motion Sickness Medication- Awesome for boat rides, planes and rickety trains!

5. Copies of Important Documents

6. Foldable Water Bottle

7. Mini Sewing Kit (2-3 needles and black thread)

8. 1 Roll of Toilet Paper

9. 1 Small Pack of Lysol wipes

10. 1 Small Pack of facial wipes
